A warm welcome to the Clonakilty Flower Club website. We hope you enjoy reading about the Club and browsing through the pictures of various events.
Clonakilty Flower Club was founded in 1982 and now, after many successful years, all involved are delighted with their very active and flourishing group.
The club’s annual outings have seen the group travel to many different locations. Over the years, we have visited many local gardens and also travelled to the Chelsea Flower Show, the Amsterdam Tulip Fields and the Glasgow World Flower Show.
The club also participates actively in Festivals and Competitions. We were awarded runner-up twice in the Inter Club All Ireland National Floral Competitions. Many members have also qualified for Floral Artist of the Year and members have won Silver medals at events as far away as Canada.
Clonakilty Flower Club is a member of AOIFA (Association of Irish Floral Artists).
We meet at 8pm on the second Monday of each month (with a few exceptions, but details will be posted of any changes) from October to April. The meetings are held in Fernhill House Hotel, Clonakilty and everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the evening. The cover charge for non-members is €8 and includes tea/coffee and mouth-watering home baking. For the dates of meetings, see the Calendar. Directions to Fernhill House Hotel are on the Info and Contacts page.
We have a varied calendar of events each year, such as a Gardening night, presentations by visiting demonstrators and of course, demonstrations by our own club members. Our Annual Dinner is held in January and our Annual Outing takes place during the summer months. This is always a great day out and includes visits to two or three gardens, depending on the time available, and a garden centre, with dinner in the evening, not forgetting coffee breaks along the way.
Clonakilty is a town of around 5,000 inhabitants located in West Cork, Ireland, about 45 minutes drive to the south-west of Cork City. Surrounded by rolling countryside and within easy reach of the beaches at Inchydoney, Owenahincha and Rosscarberry, Clonakilty is a bustling market town as well as a popular tourist destination.
